This past week, we have acquired and displayed many fantastic pieces of fine art. So for our week 15 highlight, we just want to show you one particularly nice painting by Dorothy Spangler.
Painter Dorothy Spangler was born in St. Louis, MO but a resident of Northern California for most of her life. She is known for thinning down her oils with glaze and applying color in layers, giving her work the lightness and spontaneity of watercolors, but with the added depth and expression of oils. Finishing touches are applied with a palette knife. Much of her work is inspired by the rich scenery of Europe.
Spangler's works are popular with collectors and have been shown throughout the US and Europe. She has had many successful one-woman shows and is a charter member of The Women In The Arts Museum, in Washington, DC. Spangler's art is in the corporate collection at Pebble Beach Lodge, Estee Lauder, and Sharper Image.
Shown below, the original oil "Portofino Harbour" is priced at $3995.00.
We invite you to stop in to see this fine painting for yourself!
